
The modern Wushu is mainly taught in Sports Club “BLACK DRAGON” focusing mostly on work with children between 5 and 7 years of age. The martial arts, which the children are training, cultivate discipline, calmness, self-confidence and other character traits.
The Club is a licensed member of BFWUSHU (Bulgarian Federation of Wushu). The Main goal of the Club is the training of Wushu competitors. At the World Kung Fu Wushu Championship in Perugia , Italy the national competitor Veselin Mihaylov, a member of the branch in Plovdiv , won First Place in the routine Changquan for children under 13 years.
The president of the club is Mr. Petar Dragoev, a national Wushu competitor and a double world champion in Taijiquan short weapons (2004 and 2005). He has also won many awards in national competitions and tournaments.
Sports Club “BLACK DRAGON” has branches in Sofia , Plovdiv and Lovech. There are also several forthcoming openings of new branches in other towns. From the Modern Wushu styles mainly taught are Changquan with and without weapons (short and long) and Taijiquan (with and without weapons). From the traditional styles the focus falls on Taijiquan (with and without weapons) Chen (Xiaowang), Yang (Jun), Wu (Jianquan). Other styles are also being taught.
